Run Dave Run!
Looks like Dave is enjoying his life with his family. Fostering is not the easiest job and knowing your foster is doing well makes it all worthwhile.

Dave is home for the holidays....
Dave has been adopted by a real nice family with two greyhound girls. I hope that he will get acclimated to the cat and live happily ever after with them.
We only had him for a short week but the house seems so quiet tonight without him . See you soon, our helicopter foster boy....

Cool As A Cucumber
Luckilly!
Today we all went for a walk together and we ran across Jackson. He's a 1%-er. That's the term that the FBI refers to the 1% of motorcycle gangs that cause 99% of the trouble. And, Jackson is a dog that causes 99% of the dog trouble in the neighborhood.
Any ways, Jackson barks like a crazed dog and lunges at you and your dogs. Today he did that and the retractable leash his owner has for him did not lock and when it got to the end of its tether it broke free of his grip! Jackson ran up like a mad-dog. Our other two were barking to keep him at bay and when Jackson got real close Zorro got ticked and started to "go in". Luckilly, Jackson wised up and backed off and ran back to his owner as it would have been a bad situation, especially for Jackson.
But, despite all that Dave was calm and collected. He backed up but no aggression and no barking. Poor thing. He just wants to be friends with everyone.

He knows his name, whew!
Some of the neighborhood kids were skateboarding today and the noise an movement made Dave a little "ruffled". I had to tug on him to get going and something happened where the clasp on his harness popped open and off he went! Luckilly, he was just trotting to get away from the noise and I was cable o get his attention by calling his name! He stopped, turned around, and came back to me! So, this time I was lucky.
His walking is steadily improving with a no-pull harness. He's really not a super, major, puller. It's just that he has obviously never been on a leash much. So, with it he's totally controllable and since he has such a nice temperment he doesn't care one bit about the harness.

See Dave Run (If You Can)
The black blur with the tad of blue is Dave! When we first brought him in he was trembling so! I thought the poor guy was freezing to death only to later find out he was super excited. That boy ran and then ran some more and then some more. He energized the entire group and a lot of dogs ran a lot more than usual because of Dave.
Dave also got along real well with the other dogs and even made a friend, Inky. Those two were buddies for the evening. But, that's how Dave is, he will buddy up with you or another dog no problem. He's not too concerned with being the top dog. As long as he has a bed and a few toys he's a happy camper.

Dave in Sighthound Mode
Dave spotted some other canines across the road while I was walking him today. He definitely wanted to play with them, tail up and wagging, and doing the down-dog at the same time. The light also made his coat look majestic.
Right now Dave and Zorro are playing. Well, kind of, Zorro is not the best playmate but he is getting there.
